Indian Horse Relay Races Celebrate Canterbury, Mystic Partnership

SHAKOPEE, MN – The Indian Horse Relays, run on Mystic Lake Derby Day at Canterbury Park, helped celebrate both the partnership between the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community and Canterbury Park as well a wonderful display of Native Culture.

In addition to the relays, there was a Native Market in the Canterbury Expo Center as well as displays of Native dance and music.

The Relays were won by DD Express of the Cheyenne River Sioux with rider Brian Beetum.  DD Express dominated the trials nor was there any question in the finale.

    Love the flying dismount.
    At least I think that’s a dismount from the direction of the feathers.
