Minnesota Based Stallion, Law Enforcement, Victim of Colic

Multiple stakes winning horse Law Enforcement, bred and raced by Canterbury Park Hall of Famer Camelia Casby, died from complications arising from colic on December 19 it was announced by current owners Erika Schwichtenberg and Joy Gorra.  The pair, operating under the name of Law Enforcement Stallion Partners, purchased the 12-year old stallion from David Hansen in July.  Hansen had purchased the stallion in 2014 following Casby’s sudden passing.

Law Enforcement (Posse-Zambezi Belle-Lord at War) was bred in New York and raced exclusively there during his six year career.  He won stakes at all four of the states thoroughbred tracks: Finger Lakes, Belmont, Saratoga and Aqueduct.  For his career he won six of thirty starts, finishing in the money in half his races with earnings of $458,638.

Fireman Oscar, winner of the 2016 Northern Lights Futurity and 2017 MTA Stallion Auction Stakes for owner/breeder Pete Mattson is the first of his progeny to be a stakes winner out of his first crop of foals.

Law Enforcement Stallion Partners released the following statement:

We wish to extend our thanks to Dr. Terry Arnesen and the staff of Stillwater Equine Veterinary Equine Clinic for their ongoing care and support of Law Enforcement. We also thank Tracy and Corey Grandstrand at Stonegate Farm in Grant, Minnesota for giving him a loving home these last few months.

Law was a very special horse and we felt a great sense of responsibility to see that he was shown the care and respect Ms. Casby would have wanted for him. It was a great honor to let fellow breeders know that we had retained him for stud duty.

Law was the rarest type of horse who gave something to everyone who proved fortunate to have him in their lives. We very much appreciate the belief and support of the Minnesota-breeders who bred their mares to him these past few seasons. We remain hopeful Law Enforcement has left us even more runners by which to remember him.
