Owner Maher, Trainer Olmstead Dominate CBY Quarter Horse Stakes

SHAKOPEE, MN – It’s Jason Olmstead’s world and we’re just living in it. Olmstead ran 1-2-3-4 in the $57,156 MQHRA Stallion Auction Futurity tonight at Canterbury Park.  His trainee, Relentless Legacy, threw in a victory in the $20,000 Bob Morehouse for good measure. Both winners are owned by Tom Maher.

In the Futurity, the favored Olmstead, Holliewood, a previously undefeated filly, broke sharply but could never quite get past her stablemate, Ur Favorite Tio on the inside.

Ur Favorite Tio ran the 350 yards in 17.90 seconds and paid a whopping $40.40 to win. Holliewood held on for second and paid $2.20 while another stablemate, Relentless Cachet ($7.40) was third.

The winner is owned by Tom Maher. Maher bred Holliewood co-owns the filly with Bill Maher. Tom Maher is also the breeder of Relentless Cachet.

“I just gave him his head, stayed out of his way and gave him enough pressure to keep going,” said winning jockey Gonzalo Valles Jr.

In the Morehouse, Relentless Legacy broke like a shot and dominated the entire race at 1-5 under rider Armando Alvidrez. He covered the 350 yards in :17.56.

Relentless Legacy paid $2.60 for the win. L Conejo ($3.60) was second and Beep Beep Rev Rev ($2.10) was third.

“He very, very fast and very classy,” said Alvidrez. “He came back really good this year. He won at Remington. He’s a Minnesota bred and this is home for him so he does really well here.”

Racing continues this weekend at Canterbury Park on Saturday night for Hall of Fame Night honoring 2025 inductees Ready to Runaway, Carin Offerman, Jeff Maday, Nik Goodwin and Joe Novogratz.

There will be four named allowances on Saturday night including the Vic Myers and the Frances Center, traditional prep races for the Minnesota Derby and Oaks, respectively.
