Prairie Meadows Based Preakness Contender Heads to Baltimore

Altoona, IA – Prairie Meadows based Conquest Mo Money, runner up in both the Grade 3 Sunland Derby and Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, shipped to Pimlico yesterday for trainer Miguel Hernandez to take his shot at Grade 1 Preakness Stakes on May 20.

“He’s going perfect,” Hernandez said after the horse’s last breeze before heading to Baltimore. “He’s galloping good.”

Hernandez plans to let Conquest Mo Money settling in at Pimlico before starting to gallop him again on Tuesday.

“The way he worked today (May 12), I was a little surprised,” said Hernandez.  “I did want to work him kind of slow but he went in :48.4.  I liked the way he worked and now I just want to be ready for the Preakness.”

Early odds for Conquest Mo Money are 12-1 prior to the expected defection of Royal Mo who was pulled up during training this morning with an apparent injury to his right front leg (as reported by The Baltimore Sun).

All of Iowa will be watching on Saturday and can watch and bet on the Preakness at Prairie Meadows which will also feature a live racing card with first post at 4:00 PM.
