SHAKOPEE, MN – The final night of racing in the 2026 Canterbury Park season featured the $30,000 Shakopee Juvenile. Morning line favorite, My Kid’s Say No, was scratched earlier today which left the lone filly, Rhyme Away, as the 4-5 favorite against the boys.
She broke sharply was able to seize the lead early but was overtaken through the turn by Twin City Boy. Both were then swiftly put away by Strike One More.
Strike One More then drew away to win by 3 lengths covering the six furlongs over a sloppy track in 1:13.87. At 7-1, he paid $15.80 for the win.
“In the Futurity he chased Merit Badge and it took the finish out of him,” said winning trainer Joel Berndt. “I saw something there, so this time we had a good post, sat outside and then made our move.”
Blazin Spirit ($10.20) and I Got A Fast Car ($5.40) were able to get up for second and third.
Eduardo Gallardo rode the winner is a Minnesota bred, a Suzanne Stables homebred.
