Prairie Meadows released their 2019 racing schedule and, as expected, changes have been made to respond to the extension of the Oaklawn Park season through Kentucky Derby Day.

A large number of Oaklawn stables make Prairie Meadows their home in the summer and there has been some anticipation to see how the Altoona, Iowa oval would respond

The Thoroughbred meet will now open on Friday, May 3, and will run its 67 days through September 10, overlapping slightly with the Quarter Horse meet which will take over the weekend racing on August 17 with the Thoroughbreds finishing up their meet racing on Monday and Tuesdays for four weeks.
